Rachel Barfield, RN, Certified Instructor
Melbourne – Pineapple Ave
Hi there! I am Rachel Barfield, and I have been teaching children independent swimming and floating skills since 2014.
It’s no secret, Brevard County is gorgeous and water surrounds our unique community. My family and I spend so much time outdoors, and chances are we are either camping, boating, fishing, skiing, or exploring.
Being an active family, you quickly realize that children are tiny, resourceful people that are always trying to unintentionally hurt themselves as they figure out the world around them. If we are being honest, and I’m sure you can relate…they see water and they go for it, safely or not.
As parents, we want to protect and share the things that we love with our children. There is no better gift than these lessons. The sooner that your child can master their aquatic life saving skills, the more confident and excited they will be to interact in their new environment. Our swimmers are tiny, but they’re mighty aquatic problem solvers!
A little about me: I reside in Melbourne along with my husband Kevin, and our GIANT extended family. I am an RN, and a busy, 20-hat wearin’ mother and grandmother to the coolest offspring you have ever met.
Family and water is my passion, and our youngest children and grandchildren have all been through our program. I was a young mom once, holding my breath poolside just like you will be. Rest assured, I walked the walk or should I say I floated the float and swam the swim! I can’t wait to meet you and your water bugs.
I host lessons at my home in Melbourne during limited sessions and hours. My children are also active in sports and activities.

Infant Rollback to Float Class
Age: 6-12+ months
Babies who are sitting independently and beginning to crawl learn how to roll onto their back to float, rest and breathe until they can be rescued.
Parents also learn how to practice with their baby to reinforce skills learned in lessons. Once babies are over the age of one and walking, they return to learn the swim-float-swim sequence.
SCHEDULE:
Infant lessons are 4 days per week, Monday – Thursday
*10 minutes per lesson
This class takes an average of *6 weeks to complete
*Lessons end on a performance based exit, not time-based, meaning we end each lesson on the student’s best performance of the skill we are working on that day, before they become fatigued
.*All lessons are individualized to the unique needs and abilities of each student so the exact # of lessons will vary.
